Fun Photo Day

A couple weeks ago I participated in a fun photography day with my fellow female photographers. We had different stations set up with different lighting situations and models. It was like organized paparazzi. There were 4-5 of us photographing at each station. About 30 of us in total... I feel so blessed to be connected with so many talented photographers that are willing to share and work together.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorites from our "play date"! Ü

Aren't her eyes amazing!!!

So precious. I just want to kiss that little cheek!

I actually got him to hold still long enough to take this cute photo! Boys are so full of energy.
I mean, I've always known that, but I grew up in a family full of girls, so I am learning a lot about how to work with boys!

How handsome is this guy! Love it!

Thanks for dropping by to check out what I have been up to! Please don't be too shy to leave a comment. I really appreciate knowing when people are reading! If you are frustrated by the comment process, call me, I'll get you going in no time! Ü

Happy Spring!!!

Lona, Tony & Gregg

Imagine it's October... Not hard to do right since it still feels that cold! The leaves are turning, the morning is crisp. And I am spending time with awesome friends!

Meet Lona, Tony and Gregg. (Well you met Gregg before from his senior session... but meet him again... cause I said so!) Ü

Lona and Tony are two of the most generous people with thier time. Ever since I met them they have always been involved in committees and are always doing things for others.

Gregg is Lona & Tony's grandson and he lives with them... at least until he graduates and goes into the Air Force.

The leaves seemed to take an awfuly long time to change last fall, but we managed to find some beautiful leaves at Wapato Park in Tacoma. It was a little windy and a little chilly, but we all toughed it out and got some beautiful photographs!

I am so happy to know Lona & Tony. They are just cool people!
Thanks for a fun session down by the water!

Sweet Ride!

These photos were taken in August... ooh how I am ready for warm weather again!!!

Bob & Pat are members of my corvette club and they are just such an awesome couple.

Many years ago they had thier photo taken with thier car, with the Narrows bridge in the background. Well, the park they did it at is no longer there and now there is a second bridge and a new car!

They found this really cool spot and we met on a warm August morning for photos.

Pat and I twisted Bob's arm and made him take some loving photos with his wife! Ü They originally wanted to just take a photo with the car... but before the session Pat also told me that it was to commemorate thier anniversary!

I {heart} this photo!

I am so ready for driving with the top out and the windows down! Ü Come on Spring weather!

Before the session... yes I am a dork...

So, yeah, you all knew I was a dork... but here is proof!

The tech stuff in plain english: When I set up my lights I have to test how bright they are and how the light will hit my subject. Well... normally when I set up I am the only person in the house. Which means that I generally start with a prop for getting my exposure correct and then I set the timer and jump in for a few test shots.

So this particular day I must have had a little too much sugar or maybe not enough. Or maybe it was a full moon... but I was full on dork!

Now you know what happens before you get to a session at my house!
Don't forget to leave me a note to let me know how crazy you think I am! Hey, on that note... what's your favorite NON EMBARRASSING memory of you and I? I love reminiscing!

With a heavy heart...

I know Ray and Kathy from the car club my husband and I belong to. Ray and Kathy are two of the neatest people on this planet. They are caring, they are generous and they both have the best smiles and laughs. I am a better person for knowing them.

When I photographed this session in November it was for two purposes. First was to update this family with a new portrait since it had been MANY years since the last. The second reason was because their son Dean had been battling cancer for quite a while. They wanted to make sure to have this wonderful memory of their entire family together to cherish forever.

So, on this cold November day we gathered on the steps of the UW Tacoma Campus... the sun was actually peaking through the clouds. So other than everyone being chilly, it couldn't have been a more perfect Fall day.

Ray & Kathy

Dale & Elizabeth and their 4 adorable munchkins.
Dean & Amy and their three cutie kiddos

Mom & Dad and their two sons Dale & Dean.

The Whole Family!!! All 13 of them! As tricky as I thought it would be to photograph 13 people... not too bad, but the family had a lot to do with it. Ü They sure did a great job.

Ray and Kathy with all of their grand children!

This family... Amazing! To be in their presence, you can just feel the love. They make you feel warm and welcome the first time you meet them. And although I had just met 11 of the 13 people in this photograph, I felt like I already knew them.

On February first, Dean passed away after a 3 and a half year battle with Cancer. This was to be the same day that he was born to Ray & Kathy Helt 37 years before.
I post this in Dean's memory and with a heart full of love for his family.
