Cydne & Dylan & baby to be

WOW! I just realized this has been sitting in my drafts and was never published... wow... Little Zoe is almost a year old now!!!

Cydne and I recently reconnected through facebook after having attended junior and senior high school together. What an awesome thing facebook has been in making the world such a smaller place! I have gotten to reconnect with so many people who I otherwise would have lost contact with until our next reunion at the earliest!

When I saw that Cydne was pregnant I was so overjoyed for her and was so joyful when she said she'd like to have maternity photographs taken! Cydne is such a beautiful woman, her personality and smile energize me!

Dylan is absolutely adorable. Their nickname for him is Dyl pickle which I think is freakin awesome! I first met him at my Click or Treat event last October when his cutieness scored him a win in the costume contest. He is going to be a heartbreaker for sure!

At the time of this session little miss bun in the oven was still unnamed... they just couldn't come to a decision... I can't wait to hear how they did finally arrive at the name Zoe. And I sure hope to be able to photograph the little bundle of cuteness!

A glowing momma is one of the most beautiful things on the planet. Thank you Cydne for allowing me to priveledge to photograph you and Dylan.

I won't hold it against you that you made my brain start thinking baby! ;)

(Maybe I will now... since I am 3.5 months preggo! Ü HAHA!)

LaShanda & Deon Wedding

LaShanda & Deon were married in February on a cold and snowy day... but they were brave souls and hopped outside for a quick few photographs to commemorate their union.

Their wedding day was absolutely beautiful and LaShanda's face radiated with her happiness!

It was so obvious that they people they chose as attendants were the ones who should definitely be there. They were surrounded by love at every turn and also a lot of fun too!

The ceremony was beautiful and perfect!

When the ceremony was concluded we headed to The Varsity Grill in downtown Tacoma for their reception. It was the first time I had ever been there and it was a beautiful venue for a reception.

After toasts and cake cutting LaShanda disappeared and surprised us all by changing her dress. Shortly after doing so she and Deon participated in a dance off which was a very close competition... In fact, I believe it was officially declared a tie... however, I bet they'd each say they were the winner. ;)

Congratulations Deon & LaShanda! Welcome to the wedded world. You make it a better place!

Shevia - Class of 2011

Shevia found me through her friend Layne whose senior portrait was posted on Facebook. It sure is amazing how Facebook connects people. Shevia had changed schools, but was still able to see her friend’s images online. She gave me a call and we were able to get her in under the wire to get her senior photo into the yearbook!

Shevia did a best of both session which means we spent an hour in the studio and then an hour outside at the location of her choice which had to include train tracks per mom’s request. Ü

We had a lot of fun in both locations!

Doesn't Shevia just have the most wonderful smile! Ü

Congrats Shevia. If I recall your graduation is this Friday... have fun... enjoy this last summer to just be a "kid"... from here on out you will have so many adventures. Embrace them and make them your own.

LaShanda & Deon

LaShanda & Deon contacted me in December about their February wedding… thankfully I was available for their wedding date and we quickly decided on a date for their engagement photos.

Their photo session was supposed to be outdoors, however as most of you know, Tacoma in January… um, yeah, total crap shoot! Thankfully the new studio was up and running and we were able to meet there and get some amazing images of the two of them.

Engagement sessions are always a part of my wedding packages because it allows us the opportunity to work together before the wedding day… get to know each other a little better. WELL… that definitely happened… more than I was expecting! Ü At one point I was trying to show LaShanda how I wanted her to pose and as I was standing up to move out of the way my leg just decided it didn’t want to do what I was asking of it. As I was beginning to fall to the floor my brave hero LaShanda scooped me up to make sure I didn’t. All was fine in the world and I hurried back to start photographing them again… I turned around, put the camera up to my eye and heard…uh, Angie… your shirt… and I looked down to see that my blouse was unbuttoned about ¾ of the way. HAHA… they got to know a little TOOO much about me! Thankfully I am not very shy and I was sporting a good supportive bra! I’m not too sure about the high school senior who was mentoring with me… I may have scarred him for life!

This one just makes me laugh every time I look at it. Lashanda telling Deon about how things were going to be once they were married! Ü

Congratulations you two! Your wedding was beautiful, I can't wait for you to see those images!

Hudson - Class of 2011

This is Hudson... He is quite possibly one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. This guy just blew me away with his charm. Not in a knock your socks off kind of charm, in an understated, so genuine, wonderful human being kind of charm.

Photographing senior guys can be pretty tricky sometimes. A lot of the time they don't really want to have photographs, but they are doing it because mom asked nicely... and how do you say no to mom! But Hudson was present and enjoying himself which made him such a joy to work with. Not to mention that he's handsome, right!

I am already trying to think up a crazy fun photoshoot to include Hudson in just for fun... Any ideas for me? I'm thinking something totally different from his signature look... maybe a James Dean, slicked back type look? You feel me? Those cheek bones are just to die for.

And I'm probably embarrassing the heck out of him by typing all this... but, seriously man... you are the reason I am a photographer! Your personality is fantastic and it just shines through the camera!!!

Athena, Jordan & AJ

This session was primarily to get photos for holiday cards, but we intended to get photos of Jordan in his military uniform. Unfortunately with all the hustle and bustle of trying to get a dog to the studio they totally forgot about the uniform photos… so that will be for another day. AJ was such a good girl for her photo debut. She is most obviously the baby in this family and so loved by Athena & Jordan. Didn’t their holiday card turn out adorable!!!

(Yes I am mortified that I am posting this in March!) I wish I could clone myself!!!

Holiday Mini Sessions

In November I offered holiday mini sessions to clients to use the portraits for gifts and cards. Here is a spotlight on four families who attended…

The Chittendens:

You may recognize these kiddos since I photographed them a couple of years ago out at fort Steilacoom park in Lakewood. Those photos are hanging in the Chittenden’s chiropractic office. This time around we were thinking gifts and we were able to get some great photos of Andrew, Aleis and Matthew! These two boys are absolutely the definition of boy! Rough and tumble, want nothing to do with having their photograph taken… so when I am able to get them to smile at the same time… I kind of feel like I just won a small battle! Ü

The Riggs:

I just recently photographed Layne for her senior portraits and it was a blast. I was very excited when I found out that the Riggs family was going to come in for their family portraits. At this session I had the pleasure of meeting Layne’s brother Evan and sister in law Erika who were married earlier this year. (Congratulations again to you two!) And of course the trickiest family member was the dog... who apparently likes to eat, well whatever he can get his chompers on! I was informed that this dog had recently eaten a whole glove and they were able to unfortunately confirm that a few days later when his stomach decided it was done with the glove! That is just so funny to me.

The Pohwats:

I met Corina and Jared at one of my husband’s work parties a couple of years ago. Ever since then Corina has been telling me how much she wanted to have family photos taken… so I was so glad when she told me that the holiday mini session was going to work out for them! With two little ones it’s always a challenge to make sure everyone is looking at the camera and happy… but we did it and got such cute images of this family! Little Cecilia is so cute with her little teeth just coming in. Too squishy and adorable for words. And Mr. Andrew… at such an independent stage… he was going to let us know where to stand and how to pose. It was pretty awesome! I definitely learned that 30 minutes is pushing it with two little ones... they just take a little extra time. Ü

The Jacobsons:

Momma Forest and I were connected through my mother who works with Forest and also has done some crafty projects for her. We were hoping that we’d be able to get a family photo including daddy, but he had to work… (we’ll get that another time though)… so we were able to capture momma with her kiddos and then some of the kiddos separately. These two were just too cute. I absolutely adore the photo of them lying on their tummies! CJ is such a loving older brother and it’s just so cute to watch see how he looks at his baby sister Isabel.

Susan is getting married

Congratulations to my good friend Susan who will be getting married to Perry this August.

It was so much fun to watch her try on dresses and get into full on bridal bliss! This day we attended the Brides against breast cancer wedding dress fundraiser and tried our best to find something that would work.

Well we didn’t find THE dress, but we got a lot of ideas about what styles Susan liked and what she envisioned herself looking like as she walked down the aisle. I can’t wait to be there as you say I do to your groom and to celebrate your love to him.

Fung Family

Fung Family – WOW, I am so behind on blogging it so isn’t funny. I normally tell people it will be up in a month or two, but sheesh, 7 months…. *blush*

I met the Fung family at a Mariner’s game that my husband Steve’s work organized. The girls were soooo adorable and I of course had to snuggle little Hailey because she was just too friggen adorable for words! Gotta love baby snuggles… yum! Anyway we got to talking with Cassie & Ray and the topic came up that I was a photographer… they were so excited because they had just been talking about doing family photographs. SWEET! Gotta love meeting someone and being able to help them take care of a to do item as wonderful as portraits! Ü

Within a week of meeting I set up the appointment for the Fung family and met them up in Bothell at the Country Village. I’d wanted to photograph there… toooooo cute for words. Well found out the hard way that there is a photographer with rights to the property there so I got a little letter that asked me not to return… oh well… I got to fulfill my wish of photographing there and we got some absolutely adorable shots! Ü

Ray & Cassie ordered framed storyboards to go in their home. Here are the two they ordered of the girls:

Briana & Jerrod

What an absolutely beautiful day for a wedding! It had rained all week and then the sun came out for a gorgeous wedding day! You just never can tell what it’s going to do here in Washington… but thankfully for Briana & Jerrod’s day it was fantastic weather.

I had a little fun playing with some different light set ups for their wedding photos and I just love how these formals came out.

Love when a bride has fun with her shoes. It says so much about her personality and adds a fun little touch that says boo ya, I'm the bride and I'm making a statement!!!

Your wedding and reception were such a blast. If it weren’t for the fact that I was totally exhausted from a long day, I think I just might have stayed to shake a leg on the dance floor! Ü

Too cute, Briana and Jerrod used their homemade BBQ Sauce as a favor for their wedding guests. Each family got to leave with a bottle. Love!

Landry Family

Jan & Rick are the most wonderful people and I was just ecstatic to be able to photograph their family. We met the Landrys in our car club and have served on the board with them, enjoyed game nights and just feel like they are part of our extended family.

It was so cool to be able to meet their daughter Jana, her husband Travis and their son Colton.

Colton was definitely the star of the day. He loves the beach, so it was an obvious choice to go to Owen's Beach at Point Defiance Park. The beach there is great for photographs.

This was the favorite family portrait of the day. It was used for their holiday cards and is also now hanging in the Landry’s home as well. Decorating with portraits is such a beautiful way to honor those we love and have them near us all day every day.

I just love the interaction here between grandparents and grandson. So absolutely priceless. I know that they will treasure this photograph all of their days and that Colton will treasure it too as he grows.

Thanks to you all for a wonderful session and then a great time visiting at the Antique Sandwich Company afterwards. It was a fantastic day to create memories!!!

Willie - Senior '11

Meet Willie. He's a senior and will graduating this year! Ü Willie is a wrestler, so he is all things tough.

His mom, Bonnie, warned me he’d be a tough one to crack… and he was… but I always win. ;)

Thankfully I was able to catch a couple smiles for her.

Kaylin & Noah Summer Pics

These kids just keep growing and getting cuter every day! In fact I just got a call from my niece telling me that she read her first entire book all by herself! Such a proud auntie!

This session was supposed to be to get photos of the kids together…. However Noah was not going to cooperate for that. This was just one day when it wasn’t going to happen. So we got some photos of each of them separately and also with their Mimi.

Summer & Chris

Summer won a free session through a promotion that I had recently on my Facebook fan page. Summer and I met years ago when we use to work together at BECU. It’s been more than 5 years since I worked there, so it was great to see her again. Summer and Chris were excited to have their photographs taken as this was the first photograph they have had since they were married.

Summer wanted to a large print with a not so traditional pose to hang on her wall in their family room. They ended up using this image in a 16x24.

I really enjoyed capturing their relationship. It is so obvious that they love each other very much.

I just love this backlit photograph of their hands coming together in a heart. It’s so symbolic in many ways. The heart of course for their love, but their hands coming together, being a team, to make a whole. Hands are just so beautiful and tell you so much about a person… I just love to photograph people’s hands. Ü

Kory - Hardkor Fitness

If you are a friend of mine on Facebook, you’ve heard all about how this wonderful man has been helping me and my hubby to lose weight! Kory is the owner of Hardkor Fitness in Fife.

We met in May at a bridal open house in Sumner. Our booths were next to each other which meant we had plenty of time during the day to chat! I told him about how my husband was scheduled for gastric bypass in a couple of months and I really didn’t want him to do it…but that we’d tried other diets and been unsuccessful… Kory convinced me (well, I think I really convinced myself) that Steve and I had to get in to his workshop and give it a go. I mean what did we have to lose but fat! Did I mention that I really didn’t want Steve to have surgery?? My thought was, if you are going to have to change your eating habits forever due to the surgery, why not just change them without surgery and get to have some awesome tasty meals occasionally? Plus no scalpels… sounded like a no brainer to me!!!

Within a couple of weeks we were at the seminar and learning how to eat so that the fat would just fall off of us. I am so proud of my husband… he’s lost over 60 pounds and is doing so well. When I first started I followed the diet until I met my goal, which was to not have to unbutton my pants every time I sat down! LOL… well, I met my goal and didn’t set another one… and then guess what… I didn’t lose any more! On December 28th I joined an 8 week challenge for the most fat loss in a group of amazing women! I am currently at 4 weeks and am so excited for the next four.

I photographed Kory for some website and business portraits in August. I think they turned out amazing!

Below are the kettle bells that Kory uses to put people through workouts... I just had my first one and LOVED it! Ü

Meeting Kory and his new bride Andrea was such a wonderful blessing. Not only have they helped us to change our health in order to spend more time together… they are also two of the most genuine and amazing people. They inspire me and encourage me and I just love being around them!!!

Christi and Michael are married!

Once again I have fallen behind on my blogging. Tis the time of year when I go "HOLY &Q*$%Q#%" and clean up all the things that were left behind in the insanity of the summer through holiday season.

I am pleased to introduce you to Mr & Mrs Ervin.

I almost always accidently say Mr & Mrs Dykstra which is Christi's maiden name and then have to correct myself! Ü I was not only lucky enough to be chosen to photograph their special day, but also to call these two friends. I met Michael & Christi thru our Corvette Club several years ago and it was a fast and easy friendship. Don't you just love those. The ones where you can just BE with someone. It's automatically comfortable, you always have fun, no drama.... ahhhh... I think we're due for some hanging out time! Ü

Michael & Christi were married on her parents farm out in the middle of Chicken Scratch, WA. (Don't look it up, it's not a real place.) ;) To this city girl, it was way out there... but it was soooo beautiful. I just love all the barns & textures there were to use as backdrops!

Some romantic kissing started the day off right!

What an awesome place to have a wedding. So many memories already exist here and now even more for the whole family to treasure!

Mallory

Miss Mallory is not only funny and beautiful she's also very outgoing and ambitious! Mallory is the Senior Class President at her high school. She's also very involved in Dance!

She seems shy until you get her talking and then you're in for a great treat! I just love the fun and casual feel of this photo... don't get between a girl and her coffee! Ü

So very dramatic and wonderful! Love it!

Mallory was up for anything! This photograph was taken on the side of the Antique Sandwich company! It was so cold that day ... but Mallory was a trooper and we got some amazing images!

Love the drama of this photograph... apparently Mal, you do drama very well! Ü

So cool that we could incorporate your dance shoes!

A beautiful close up! I had to give it all I had with this girlie! She's so used to dance that she's got a "performance smile" and a "real smile". She made me work hard and make a fool out of myself to get that real smile to shine through... but when I did ... it was soooo worth it!

Love this chair! Love it! And you make it look good girl! Ü

Brian & Ashley are Married!

Brian & Ashley are quite possibly the most wonderful couple in the world! They booked their engagement session almost a year and a half before their wedding as Brian was being deployed within a few weeks of the session. You can see their engagement photos here.

We're married, let's PARTY!

Isn't this venue just G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. They were married at Kensington Gardens in Gig Harbor which is a private residence on the second floor and they rent out the bottom floor for events and weddings. It is an inspiring location for photography!

The passion is so very obvious between the two of them. They are just infectious to be around.

While working on the design of their wedding album I caught myself humming love songs and just smiled. I have forever been impacted by meeting you two. Thank you for sharing your love and your special day with me. I know you have a love that will stand the test of time.

Shawn

Against the odds, Shawn's senior session took place on a very dreary September day. There was a break in the rain for almost an hour exactly while we quickly scurried around the Georgetown area of Seattle.

Shawn's mom and I have known each other for many years. We met through a scrapbooking group that we belong to. I was honored to be asked to photograph Shawn. They live up in the wild North yonders and I live way down the South...so we agreed to meet in Seattle.

Shawn shared some of his photography with me on his phone and I was very impressed. He definitely has a talent!!! I just wish he wasn't so shy and reserved...I couldn't crack this guy! ;)

When we were done with the session, we sat down at a local restaurant to fill out some paperwork... the skies opened and THE nastiest rain storm rolled in. We were so absolutely lucky to catch the break in the weather that we did.

Thanks Shawn, for a great session. You were so fun to photograph! Good luck to you in your endeavors after high school. I know you will do great things!

Cole & Samantha

Wow, I just realized I never posted this... it's been sitting in my drafts now for months! Enjoy!

Cole and Samantha came in to have their photographs taken as the first to use my new studio! They were an absolute handful and I loved it. I love watching the wonder in little ones eyes as they run around and check out the world. And in the world of the studio, there is a lot to check out! Ü

Poor Cole had croup and was only interested in having his photographs taken for a very short time. But even not feeling well he was still awfully adorable!

Sam and Cole have known each other almost their whole entire long lives! ;) Their parents met due to being pregnant at the same time and being in classes together. After the babies were born Amanda (Sam's momma) got the wonderful opportunity to nanny for Cole and therefore be with her beautiful Samantha everyday!

To add a little more interest to the story, Sam's daddy's name is Cole too (aka known as my brother) ... so it can be rather tricky when listening to a story to decipher who the story is about! Ü I remember one time Amanda was telling a story about Cole throwing a fit and I thought to myself... why is my brother throwing a fit? That’s not very becoming! Ha!

If his eyes were any more blue it would be a crime!

If this doesn't just put childhood into a nutshell, I don't know what does! ;)

Miranda - Mount Tahoma High School Class of 2011

This is Miranda. She will be graduating at the end of this school year. Miranda found me through Stephanie who is one of my senior reps at Lakes high school. They know each other through Dance.

When we got together for Miranda’s consultation and were browsing thru my portfolio, Miranda’s mom realized that she knew my family! In my portfolio was a photograph of my cousins Katie and Ryan. Stephanie (aka mom) recognized them as the grandchildren of her best friend. How cool is that. It really is such a small world.

Miranda had two different sessions, one outdoors and one indoors. She brought friends to each session, which is a great way to commemorate a friendship.
Our first session was held at a park in University Place. Miranda wanted to go somewhere unique from her classmates. I love photographing at this park, so I was glad she chose this location.

We had a lot of fun here… all except for the small panic that was created when we almost stepped in a fire ant hill… phew… that was a close call!

The second session was held at the studio and it was H.O.T.!!!! My studio is in downtown Tacoma and is in an older warehouse style building. Of course our appointment was on one of the hottest days we have had this summer and we were feeling the pain! But even while battling brutal temps, Miss Miranda still managed to be amazing!

It was a pleasure to meet you and to photograph you!

We are family

Kelly, Ed, Kaitlin, and Emily met me out on a beautiful summer morning in downtown T-town for their family portraits. We actually were ambushed by the sun...what a wonderful surprise... although it was a tad bit frustrating because we planned our session around the fact that it was going to be overcast and did it in the a little later in the morning than we should have since Kelly really wanted to incorporate Tacoma architecture! The problem is that the sun was so bright it causes squinting and hot spots and dark shadows and all kinds of trickiness for a photographer. BUT... we dealt with it and I think we got some pretty amazing images.

I met Kelly just after the new year... she owns Massage at the Ritz in Lakewood and I went in and bought a couple of gift certificates due to a special she was promoting. (This would be a gentle nudge and reminder miss Kel that if you had a website I would be able to promote it! ;) Kelly is an amazing massage therapist and I am so thankful that I have met her and her family because now she has also become a friend!

When I had my open house Kelly brought in her family to meet me and to check out my new studio. It was a great opportunity to meet her girls who pretend to be shy... but now I know it's all just an act!

I just L O V E the way so many of these images came out!

I assisted my photographer friend Carla with this beautiful wedding. Carla met Lisa on an airplane YEARS ago. They connected immediately. Lisa had recently been diagnosed with cancer and told her story to Carla. At the time Lisa and Scott had only been dating for a short time and she was worried that cancer would cut their relationship short... as I understand it, she even told Scott that she would understand if he moved on to someone healthy that could spend a whole lifetime with him.

As I said years passed and Carla receives a phone call from this woman she met on the airplane so many years ago. She had saved Carla's card and she was getting married!!! So very exciting! And the cancer was in remission! How awesome!

What a beautiful couple and wedding. It's too bad the weather was crummy. It held out for a about 15 minutes so we could get out and do a few outdoor pics... but it was too bad it wasn't better because the venue was gorgeous!

Stephanie - Lakes High School Class of 2011

This awesome lady is Stephanie… you’ve seen her featured on my blog previously when she and her friends came to my studio for a prom dress divas session. You can see that session here.

Stephanie is extremely photogenic, very outgoing and so much fun to be around. Her bubbly personality is must be at least one of the reasons she is the ASB president.

Thankfully we've got a trooper here because this session was on one of our 90+ days which generally are SO rare here. We must have had 6 or 7 this year... anyway... so we started the session at a Park in Lakewood near home/school and Stephanie worked this park! I had such a hard time narrowing down images from her session because so many were fab!

Ater we had started to feel the effects of the sun and thought we might melt at any time... we hopped in the car and headed for the studio. Well, being in an older building we don't have A/C and it

was already HOT in there... But Stephanie was a trooper and we got some amazing images here too! (Thank goodness for oscillating fans!)

Congratulations on being ASB President and best wishes for a fantastic Senior year. The year will go by so fast, soak up every minute!

I "Dew"

Meet John & Judy Dew-

Judy called me up inquiring about wedding portraits… but this would be no ordinary wedding session.

You see, the newlyweds had been married recently in Las Vegas, however when the photographer went to upload the photographs there was a power surge and the memory card was wiped clean. So no wedding photos. What an absolutely frustrating experience, I can only imagine how hard it must have been for them... because I was devastated for her!

Judy wanted to recreate their wedding portraits, so we scheduled a session, she got her hair professionally styled and rented a tux for John.

We started the session in the studio and then headed to a nearby park. I love that we did a combination of both indoor and outdoor because the difference between indoor and outdoor is SO completely well...different… and I love them all for different reasons!

It has been great getting to know you two and great photographing you. And since we are practically neighbors, I look forward to seeing you often, even if it is just in line at the grocery store! Ü

This blog post has been a long time coming (AND will be a long post)! Back in April I was contacted by Click! Cable Network to photograph their “upcoming” advertising campaign. I had never photographed for such a large format before, but figured I’d give it a go. Working with Click! was wonderful. They are a great company with many great employees that were a pleasure to work with.

I was tasked with photographing 4 sessions. Two separate couples, one family, and one single man.

It was really interesting photographing these sessions as I am used to using my surroundings and props to finish off the photograph, but in these photos props were not wanted and the background was plain white as they were going to be removed from the background anyway. Talk about changing my creative working grounds!

The first session was with Margo and Sam. They are just the sweetest couple! They were excited to be able to have copies of the photograph to share with their family when they celebrate their upcoming anniversary.

The second session was with Patricia and Thane. These two are local business owners! Patricia at Embellish salon and Thane at Sattelite coffee. So if you thought you recognized them from somewhere, now you know! And if you haven’t already, make sure to go and visit them for a haircut and a tasty beverage!

The third session was with Ty. He was so much fun to photograph. With his great spirit and a lot of attitude, I felt like I had known Ty for years after. After about 5 minutes we were already exchanging jokes and sarcastic banter. It was wonderful! Ü

The final session was with the Gordon Family. When they arrived at the studio the kids were bundles of energy so we let them run around and check out their surroundings. I photographed them wherever they wanted, which involved jumping on the bed and lots of giggling. This got them comfortable with me and the camera… after about 5-10 minutes of playing we moved on to taking family photos. I was so impressed with how great the kids were. Generally with little ones it can be tricky to get them both on a great day. I could just tell what a great family they were in the short time we spent together. I sure hope to be able to photograph them again someday!

All of the billboards are now up. I’ve seen all four, but have only gotten 2 photographs (shown below). Would love to hear if there is a billboard near you! These were taken with my point and shoot... so don't judge too much on the photography skills! ;)

What a neat experience! I've definitely met some new and wonderful people! Ü

Kelly, Ryan and Sophie came to visit me at the studio for their second family photo.

Kelly is a photographer friend of mine and was so cute about asking me to photograph them. I was absolutely happy to take their portraits!

Little miss Sophie is just too cute. I was so excited to be able to use these wings!!! For two years after I had them made for me, every newborn baby I photographed was a BOY! Ü Thanks miss Sophie for being an adorable model!

Thank you Kelly for a fun session, a great friendship and that you are always there to give me good advice! I am so glad I have met you and that we always seem to be on the same page! Ü I am a lucky girl!

Congratulations again on your beautiful little girl! She is definitely worth all of the waiting you two did! Ü

Rodger & Maricar

Rodger and I are in a networking group together which meets every week called the Business Breakfast club. Rodger needed photos for his new business cards. His business Renasaince Chiropractic was making a change to focus on family and everyone in the office was having their photograph taken with their spouses and families.

We met in downtown Tacoma and walked and talked and took our time getting some great photos of Rodger & Maricar together.

It is always great getting to know a business associate better on a personal level.

Briana & Jerrod are Engaged

Meet Bri and Jerrod. They are engaged and will be getting married this September.

I met the wonderful couple through Jerrod's parents Dennis and Gwen whom I know through the car club that I belong to. Dennis is a wonderful and witty man who you definitely want to know if you have the opportunity and Gwen is so sweet... her laugh just makes you smile any time you hear it. Thankfully the apple didn't fall far from the tree and their son Jerrod is also an absolute pleasure to be around.

Obviously the charm worked on Bri and still continues to do so! The two are so obviously happy and just being with them will make your day brighter!

Our session was on the 5th of July, the eve of summer finally arriving in the Pacific Northwest. The sun was shining and the weather couldn't have been more perfect to celebrate their love!

We met in downtown Sumner at the train station and took a few photographs there before realizing that someone *removing name to protect the accused* had locked their keys in their car! Ü So after a quick detour to collect a second set of keys we continued on for more smiles and sunshine!

I absolutely love this connection between the two of them!

Ah summer in Washington... there is no other place I'd rather be than a nice warm Washington day. It makes the other 310 days of the year worth the wait! Ü

Thanks you guys for a wonderful evening. I can't wait to photograph your union and to share in such a special day with you.

We need your help!!!!

These two very handsome boys are going to be going to Disney next month to try out for a TV show. They each need a headshot and mom & dad and I just couldn't come to a difinitive decision... SO, we are asking for your help!!! Could you please chose which of the photographs is your favorite of each boy?

Each boy recited their lines to me and they were both so clever. Made me smile!

First off is Robert, during his rehearsal he'll be discussing the very serious business of saving your mashed potatoes so that you can hide your vegetables under them. Ü

Next is Justin. His lines involve a lot of hot dogs. It made me laugh as I thought to myself that he was describing my husband and probably just about any man on earth. Justin's lines involve him being at a friend's house, but he has to leave at dinner time if they don't have any hot dogs because that's all he will eat.

The Beautiful and Talented Amy

Meet Amy. Gorgeous right, and she's got talent... Alot of it!!!

The reason we photographed Amy is because she needed Playbill headshots for vocal performances. Not only does she sing, but she is also an interior decorator! And to top it off she's mom to three beautiful and energetic children.

I've known Amy for years now! I used to play softball and work with her hubby Joe when I worked for "The Credit Union." Amy would come and support us at so many of our softball games and I can remember back to when her oldest son was born. (That was just last year, right?!?!) ;)

When Amy and I got together for her portrait session and she disclosed that she was doing interior design... I was soooo excited! She's been helping me with my bathroom project and I can't wait to see it all finished!!!

Thanks Amy for a wonderful session and for being awesome in dealing with my indecision! (This awesome woman even went to Lowe's with me and shopped!)

A Valentine's Day Wedding - Julie & Doug - Salish Lodge - WA

This is Julie... she and I met through a wonderful photographer friend named Kelly. Kelly was an invited guest at their wedding and was also like 12 months pregnant *ready to pop at any moment* and therefore Julie hired me to capture the events of their special day!

The day of the the consultation Julie brought her twin sister with her because her then fiance was watching football and couldn't be torn from the television! ;) Tip to wives to be... don't schedule a consultation when sports are on that your fiance can't walk away from!!! Ü

So because of FOOTBALL (said with the sarcasm and frustration of a football widow) I didn't even get the chance to meet Doug until the wedding day. But I felt like I could have known him forever. Julie and Doug are just the sweetest and coolest couple.

The wedding was at the Salish Lodge which I had never been to. It was a BEAUTIFUL location for a wedding. The weather was not wonderful, so we didn't get to do any photographs near the waterfall, but thankfully it did clear up enough to snap a few outdoor portraits!

I am thinking back fondly of this day and remembering that it was so beautiful that I ditched my flash stand at the door and decided to go with the reflector for fill light. I laugh as I think about the fact that I forgot to remove my transmitter to my flash and realized after about 20 minutes that even at the other end of the parking lot I was still firing my flash... poor valet guys probably felt like they were the victim of paparazzi! Ü

I have been inspired to take a creative photograph of the wedding rings that isn't the "traditional shot" by one of my fellow photogs. She does absolutely non traditional ring photographs and I LOVE them. I for one think, why would you want a photo JUST like everyone else... Your wedding, your rings, you're unique... let's do something fun and different. I take that attitude into every wedding I shoot! Of course if you want the traditional shots, I'll get those too... but I'll be thinking in the back of my mind how I can add a different touch or an additional photograph that is unique to you!

Sweet adorable Baby Theo

Meet Baby Theo.

If you are a fan (or like me... or whatever they'll call it this week) on Facebook you've already seen this little cutie when I did a sneak peek for mom & dad.

Theodore was born on 1/18/10 and was photographed at the ripe old age of 22 days.

Although he wasn't very happy with the fact that we kept putting him down and posing him to our own ideas instead of his... he still did very well and was definitely a photogenic babe!

Newborn sessions are best done around the two week mark, and generally take about 2.5-3 hours because they need to eat, be snuggled and have time to get comfy.

Conveniently, there is a coffee shop just across the street from my studio, so when it just so happened that Mr Theodore was having a day where he needed lots of snuggling and loving, dad was able to run across the street to get some beverages and lunch while we waited for the star of the show to settle in.

This was my first newborn session at the studio and I think it went amazingly well! I can't believe how many different options I thought of for photographing him... so many that I couldn't even get to them all!

Prom Dress Divas

Caitlin is definitely becoming a super star on my blog! Ü This is her third appearance... but this time she's bringing friends!

I was thinking to myself... wouldn't it be awesome to offer Prom Dress Photos? I mean after all, we buy this expensive dress and then wear it once. Maybe loan it to a girlfriend to wear and then it sits in the closet.

We have to find just the right color, the right fit, make sure it's different from all of our friend's dresses... then we wear it once and we're done with it. It sits in the closet and we think... I'm sure I'll wear it again some day...

Julie Mixon Workshop - AMAZING

Last week - actually a week ago today - I was sitting in a class with my mouth open and my eyes wide learning so many cool things that are going to make my job more simple! Photoshop is such a beast... so much to learn, so many things to keep you busy for years, and it makes being a photographer awesome and frustrating some times.

Julie was such an awesome teacher. She was so easy to follow and learn from. Of course, I think if you were new to photoshop you might not get as much out of the class, but for where I am at it was amazing. I found after the fact, I was a little bummed with myself because I didn't take as many notes as I should have. I was so engrossed and excited that I just stared in amazement!

Sneak Peek for April

Last Saturday evening ended with a surprise phone call from a photographer I have never met. Her poor little daughter was ill making it impossible for her to perform a photo shoot the next day and she was looking for someone to take it over for her.

So early Sunday morning I spoke with April and we set up the details for them to have their photo shoot with me. At noon that day I had the priveledge of meeting her beautiful family!

The Mapes Family

Meet the Mapes Family! Sheri is my hubby's sister and the rest of them all came along with her... a package deal! Ü (A pretty good deal if you ask me!)

This was possibly my fastest session ever! It the end of November and it was sooooo cold!!! And the rain was threatening us... so we just focused and got those photos DONE!

I am lucky to have gained such wonderful family! I actually worked with Rod before I knew Steve... in fact, if Rod hadn't worked at BCP (Brewery City Pizza), who knows if Steve ever would have started working there after coming home from college... and we may have never met. hmmmm... interesting to think about how life could have been different isn't it! I remember Sheri coming in with Royce when he was itty bitty... little did I know at that point that he would be my nephew and now he's driving. (Yes, this is a formal WARNING!) Ü

Rod is possibly the most avid and vocal sports fan I have ever met. I am not 100% sure, but sometimes I think I can hear him from my house! Ü This man loves sports... doesn't really matter what it is... if there is a hoop, or a base or a pin or a ... he's watching.... and yelling at the television.

Sheri and I share a love of scrapbooking which is so awesome because we get to spend time together doing something we both love, laughing and having a great time, but also preserving our family's memories.

Royce is fiercely smart. Too smart for his own good sometimes. He's loyal and passionate and has a fire inside him that will drive him to do great things.

Ryan is witty and charming and sly. He is going to be a heartbreaker (And this would be my formal warning about him! If you have a 12 year old daughter and live in this area... be forewarned! LOL! Ü)

Thanks for a fun session. I can't wait to see the photos up on the wall after all your planning and decorating are done! Ü So glad I was lucky enough to become a part of your family.

Christmas AGAIN!

Yeah, I am WAY behind on my blogging, but hoping to make amends by catching up and then fingers crossed (toes too) I can stay caught up.

I can hardly believe how fast these two are growing up. It's already time to do photographs again for Noah's second birthday. Amazing!

Family Fun in Tacoma

This was a super fun session... a little wild at times with three little ones... but so much fun! Karla (mom) has been helping me with my office remodel and I am so thankful to have had her help. I had a bunch of random ideas and she helped me focus and find the way! I get so overwhelmed when it comes to that stuff...

ANYWAY... all that rambling was the beginning of the thought that Karla has a super great style and beautiful home and from our consultation, I knew that she was very into architecture. So it was really neat getting to step back and think about cool architecture to use for this family.

You have seen this family before in a sneak peek. You've also seen that same photo on my most recent promotion. So, here are a few new photos that you haven't seen before... architecture, love of coffee, and adorable kiddos... soak it up!

Karla was thinking this last photo may just have a place on the mantel... she had some planning and thinking to do on this, which reminds me, did you decide yet? And the next question is dolly or no dolly? Ü I can easily take the dolly out in photoshop, but I decided to leave it for the blog because it tells a huge part of this family's story, especially Ellison's story. (Ellison is the sis in this family... hey with two brothers... she's gotta even it out somehow!)

That poor dolly had a rough day during our photo shoot! She was used as a toy to toss in the air... she sat on my head for a while, she plays a mean game of peek a boo... Ü I love that it is in this photo because it so takes me back to that day.

Alissa's Senior Session

Miss Alissa is a trooper for sure. She endured a cold day and a sick photographer... as well as a mother and photographer who MADE her smile! Ü

When we met for her consultation Alissa was wearing this green sweater which is super fab because it totally makes her green eyes pop... so I said... you should definitely wear this at your session! I am so glad she listened!

I am guessing that Alissa is one of those girls that doesn't realize how absolutely beautiful she is. She moaned and groaned and said she didn't like to show her teeth when she smiled. But it is amazing how she goes from being a beautiful girl to absolutely glowing when she lets that smile fly!

As I said, we FORCED Alissa to smile... we'd take one with her closed mouth smile and we'd twist her arm behind her back and ask her to indulge us with those pearly whites.

So, all this being said... guess which ones were Alissa's favorites?!?! You guessed it... I am so glad we tortured her to smile, because the majority of her favorites showed her winning grin.

If you were trying to find Alissa you'd probably find her doing homework, hanging with her boyfriend or watching her favorite movie "Up".

I wish you all the best Alissa... I can't wait to hear your plans for next year and beyond... I know you are destined to be great! (Just flash that smile... it'll give you an extra edge! Ü)

Mariah's Senior Session

hmm... I could have sworn I already blogged this... but I can't find it, so here we go!

Mariah is one of a kind... a beautiful girl who has her head on straight and has dreams of working in the theatre. She is artistic and funny and I had so much fun photographing her!

How I met Mariah... Her father married Cari, whom I have know forever, well almost. I believe Cari and I met when I was around the age of 3. She was my neighboor and we played outside (back when we didn't have video games to keep us inside), we went on trips to the ocean (the most memorable time of course being when her sister got my mom's car stuck in the sand) and we got a long so well!

I first met Mariah at Cari and Will's wedding, and then again at my wedding, and then again for her senior portraits. Of course all of these events were spread out over SEVERAL years and it was like re-meeting her every time!

I absolutely know that Mariah will do great things. In talking with during her session it was so completely obvious that she is a determined and SMART lady!

I can't wait to meet you again... to meet the successful woman that I know you will become.

Jennifer and Gregory are married

Last August was full of weddings and this was one of them! I assisted my friend Resa with Jennifer and Gregory's wedding... and it was just plain beautiful! If I recall correctly they actually chose their colors based on their venue... which is genius! The carpet color was brown and lime and therefore they chose to repeat those colors in their wedding decor. It was genius! I've seen some wedding decor that has gone horribly wrong. When you are making your choices, definiteley consider your location! One wedding I went to, the decor of the location was lime, orange and yellow... totally old school 70's like. And the bride decorated with red and black. Besides being visually hard to stomach, it also affected their photographs because the decorations were such a huge eye sore, it was hard to get past them to see the people!

Anyway... enough about that... back to Jennifer and Gregory... what an adorable couple! I had so much fun helping with this wedding. Congratulations to you two!

Weddings... so amazing... such a blessing to be a part of them. Thank you for including me in your special day!

A recap of 2009

Wow, finally playing catch up with my blogging. I finally have a minute to breathe! What a crazy year last year was for me. An AMAZING year! Thank you to all of my clients, family and friends who have supported me through the growth of my business... I am proud to say I actually made a profit last year. I actually made more than I spent on education and camera equipment and office equipment... WOW... there is so much more to running a business then I really thought about before jumping in. And these last 3 years have been a learning experience FOR SURE! I am so glad I have been surrounded by an amazing group of photographers who have been shining the spotlight down the roads that I should take. I have also had wonderful clients that inspire me and challenge me to be a better photographer.

I finally feel like I am finding "my style"... I'm not just photographing everything because I don't know what I like... not just photographing how I think the client will want me to photograph... but photographing from my passion, from my heart, with my style at work.

Corporate America really pushes so hard on people to fit into certain molds and I really feel like last year I realized... I don't have to be corporate America. I get to be ME! Run my company how I want to, how it will best serve my clients. What a freeing realization. As some of you may remember I had fun with my hair. Put a little pink in there... just because I felt like I could.... well, it was fun... and I may do it again, but just doing it because I could was pretty cool! (My hubby doesn't like it much, so maybe I'll give him a little break from it ;) Anyway, my point is, I feel like I've always been me, but now I am a more improved version of myself!

To continue in my trend of onward and upward, I recently signed on to lease studio space and will be sharing with 4 other very talented and wonderful women in photography! I am so excited about this venture! I will be having an open house soon, so keep your eyes out for details. I've photographed a few sessions in there so far and can't wait to see how my photography changes and evolves with this new opportunity!

So, you've probably stopped reading by this point... with all my yada yada yada... but if I still have your attention... thanks again. Even if I have never photographed you, thank you. This session was in the summer just before school started. I have been waiting to post because I haven't been able to connect with the family. This was a just for fun session. A friend of theirs mentioned that they knew some twins and would I be interested in photographing them. I said SURE!

They may be twins, but don't make the mistake of thinking they are alike! Ü I was definitely told about all their differences. Who likes to dress girly and who likes to dress comfy. And I had specific instructions... NO CUTESY! Ü Sierra and Shannon were so funny... it took them quite a while to get used to the idea of having the photographs taken... they just weren't really sure what to expect. Finally I got them to open up and have a little fun. I just LOVE the photo of them laughing. What a great sisters moment!

Christmas in January...

These photos were taken for holiday gifts and cards and I am so happy with how cute they turned out. I must say you can't go wrong with two adorable little girls!

I did learn my lesson though...and I knew as soon as I'd done it... it was BAD! I had grand visions of one little girlie sitting on a stool and the other little love with her arms around her cousin. Oh, wouldn't that have been so "Picture Perfect". Well yeah, if they weren't at that point in their lives where if she has one, you need one too! Ü So after a very brief attempt at my bright idea, a few tears from both little girls because they both wanted to sit on the stool, and some candy bribery... we were back on the right track to happy ladies! Ü

My favorite part... getting to surprise grandma! We attempted multiple photographs of her kids with their kids and no one photograph was "THE ONE". The girls were done at this point and it was all I could do to get the "big kids" to keep their eyes open. I told grandma I would try to see if I could combine a couple of photographs to make one that she'd be proud to hang on her wall. WELL... I fibbed... yeah I did. Kristy, her daughter, and I were partners in deception! We told grandma so very sadly that we weren't able to make it happen. And then for Christmas she received a gift portrait with some of her favorite people in it! That was a lot of fun! I hope you loved it Carla!

And this is where I thank Kristy for being a wonderful and supportive Accountability Partner! Kristy and I talk every day and commit to each other to do things for our own business! Sometimes it is hard to stay on track when you work from home... the internet calls your name, the couch is so inviting, there are TV shows on the DVR... but Kristy keeps me accountable and I don't know if I would be where I am today if it weren't for her! Thank you for the last year and a half (can you believe it's been that long) of kicking my rear in gear!

Another August Wedding

These photographs are from a wedding I assisted on in August with my good photog friend Michele! Michele is an amazing mentor and woman. I am so thankful for her help, motivation and friendship!

This was such a fun couple and bridal party. It is so neat getting to meet so many people that I wouldn't otherwise be able to know. The bride had a twin sister and the relationship between them was awesome! AND they even pulled the old switcheroo on the groom back in the day when they were first dating! In other words the other twin went on the date to see how long it would take him to realize he was with the wrong girl! How funny!

It was a beautiful wedding held on post in Bremerton.

Ryan & Dawn's Wedding

Ryan and Dawn were married August 9th at Rock Creek Gardens which is an absolutely beautiful outdoor venue!

The weather was absolutely perfect for an August wedding. The clouds drifted in and out and kept the temperature cool. Dawn was such a glowing bride. Giddy with excitement...So happy to be marrying the man of her dreams.

Dawn planned her Washington wedding from her home in California where she resides with Ryan. She grew up in Sumner and was excited to have a Washington wedding. When Dawn called me we connected immediately... we talked for a LONG time about all the exciting details! Her mom Denise helped with all the plans and was the one who found Rock Creek Gardens... the perfect location for Ryan and Dawn because they have a great love of the outdoors. (Ryan asked Dawn to marry him when they were out hiking.) Denise is just one of those people who will make you feel like part of the family. I loved all the hugs and smiles and good vibes Denise was sending! Dawn was very proud to tell me that she was inspired by her parents loving relationship which celebrated its 36th anniversary in June.

Dawn and Ryan met through E-Harmony about a year before their wedding. Dawn's brother also was very lucky to have found his wonderful wife through E-Harmony... PROOF that it does work! Ü

I think the two moments that will forever be in my memory about Ryan and Dawn's wedding will be:
*When Dawn was upstairs getting ready and was calling out the window to Ryan (calling out and the hiding behind the drapes of course) and telling him she loved him and couldn't wait to see him.
*The fact that she told me ahead of time... I will probably kiss Ryan multiple times as we walk back down the aisle after our wedding. When he kisses me it sends electricity through my body! (How awesome is that!)

I so enjoyed your wedding and your family. I wish you lived here... it would be awesome to watch your love continue to grow. Congratulations to you both. You are the kind of couple that other couples long to be like!

Family Portraits at the Falls

Amy (mom) and I met in the 4th grade and became fast friends. She lived down the street from me until I moved away from home when I was 20. We have all kinds of memories together... most of which I probably shouldn't share here just in case her daughter is reading! Ü Actually we weren't that bad.

We went to elementary school, junior high and high school together. We laughed together, cried together, talked about boys, fought over boys (you know who you are), went to dances, in fact she was even my "date" in 9th grade when my boyfriend broke up with me a week before the big dance (you know who YOU are! LOL). We watched Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman more times than probably anyone else on earth. Ü

After high school we even worked together at Brewery City Pizza which no longer exists in University Place, but it does in Lacey/Olympia. (side note... go there for pizza... it's yummy!) This is also where I met Ross (dad) for the first time... he was one of my supervisors and such an awesome guy to be around. (Another side note, this is also where I met my husband... BCP has a lot of life history for me!)

When Amy's daughter Alexsis was born I was so excited for her. Amy was the first one of my friends to have a baby and it was so cool to be a part of their lives at that time! All of this was so long ago, yet seems like it could have been just recently.

Amazingly after all these years and life happening in between, going years sometimes without talking, we reconnected at our reunion, and then again through facebook, and now and then at little mini reunions that we organize with friends... and when Amy asked me to take her family portraits I was so excited and NERVOUS. I mean, you can't let your lifelong friend down!

We met at Tumwater Falls on a cool but sunny September morning. The weather was beautiful. The family was looking sharp. The Falls were gorgeous. I even got a lot of exercise in during this session. (Probably the most ever hiking up and down the area around the falls.) I can’t believe how grown up Alexsis is… she’ll be graduating before we know it. Gunnar is so funny… the chattiest little boy I know!

Alyssa's Senior Session

Alyssa will be graduating this year from Curtis High School and she is a senior model for me. Her first session was in August and the weather was perfect! Some leaves had already started turning, so we were even able to get a couple fall looking shots then which was great because the second time I photographed Alyssa was after the leaves had almost all fallen to the ground. It was cold, but she toughed it out and looked beautiful doing it!

Alyssa might possibly be the smiley-est girl on the planet. I was only able to convince her to go for the serious look a couple of times... and it was difficult to get her to do it. Then when she saw the photos... it just wasn't her. Don't even try to be in a bad mood around Alyssa cause she'll make you smile!

Good luck getting time with Alyssa tho... she is one super busy girl! She is in Honor Society, is involved with University Place Council and UP Parks. She will be in Track in the spring, and currently she is participating in Dance Blast which is a super cool collection of different types of dance routines performed by different groups of students. If you are interested in attending, send me a message and I will get you the info!

WAY back in the day ;) when I was a senior in High School, I actually participated in dance blast. It was something that my English teacher put together, not really a dance, but it was a choreographed fan section at a football game. I've got photographs somewhere, but when I went looking I couldn't find them. Probably better for everyone! LOL! (But I was super excited because something that stumped me last night when I tried to find it magically appeared today in my search for photographs!!! Made my day, can you tell!??!?!)

Anyway, there I go getting way off track again... but that's me! Ü I'm a little excitable!

BFF Session

Heather and Cynthia attend Curtis High School and they are best friends. I had such a great time photographing them. It was so fun to see them laugh and be silly. Girlfriends are such an important part of life… they are there for you to cry to, laugh with, and tell you when you’re making a bad decision. What would we do without girlfriends?

We met at Point Defiance and hit up a few different locations there. I absolutely love the photo of Cynthia with the ferry in the background. It is SO Washington! Ü These two girls were fun to photograph and fun to laugh with. I see bright futures for them both.

Heather was recently involved in National American Miss competing for Miss Junior Washington. She was a finalist, placed above average in all of her competitions and received very good feedback from all of the judges. She won a trophy and received 3 ribbons for Casual Wear, Actress, and Photogenic. Congratulations Heather!

Another busy bee session where I definitely got a work out! The Tinney Family is full of energy! I was so pleased that I actually did get a few photos where they all were in the same photograph. Ü

The Tinney kiddos are adorable. When I first met them in their home for the consultation I was given a full tour and inventory of the toy closet! I got to see costumes and check out their Spiderman and princess themed bedrooms. Austin took me by the hand every 5-10 minutes and would say Angie, c’mere… Angie I want to show you this, Angie… it was so cute and sooo the reason that I love meeting people before the session. And cutie patootie Kaylie came right over to me as soon as I sat down on the couch and snuggled with me while I talked with Amy (mom). It makes me smile to think about it. Snuggles are one of the simplest and most wonderful pleasures on Earth!!!

Sophia's Family

I bet you can’t guess who’s in charge here… I’m placing my bets on Miss Sophia! She is so absolutely adorable. Her little blonde pony tail bouncing up and down as she’d run around in circles…well for as long as she left it in any way! We had two goals on this beautiful summer day: a family portrait and a three generations portrait. I definitely got my exercise in!

We’d take a few photos and then Sophia would grow restless and we’d play tag… first she’d try to get me (and of course she’d win!) and then I’d try to get her, when I would succeed I’d place her back in the photo in the perfect spot, run back to my prime location to get the photo and then we’d do it all over again! I’m letting the cat out of the bag here (that’s such a weird phrase) and telling a little secret. I refuse to grow up. I love playing kids games. In fact just the other day I played hide & seek with hubby… he didn’t know we were playing until he came looking for me and couldn’t find me… my heart raced and I giggled under my breath as I hid in the bathtub… my point is that I just love photographing little ones because I get to play all those fun games. Ü

NEVER Grow up!

Afternoon Wedding

Randi & John were married in Downtown Steilacoom on a Monday afternoon. If I recall the story correctly, the reason they chose to be married on a week day was because it was her grandparent’s anniversary. I assisted a new photographer friend Monica with this wedding. It was a beautiful day for a wedding.

After the wedding everyone headed to Randi & John’s house in Steilacoom to celebrate their union. Randi is a security guard and John is a police officer, so it was absolutely perfect that they found this cake topper!

They were such a fun couple to be around. Their energy and happiness was completely contagious.

So thankful to be a part of another beautiful wedding!

2 year old Annabelle

Little miss Annabelle, how quickly you have grown. 2 already and so full of spunk. Curls like Shirley Temple and even the dimple to go with it. Seriously though, how did 2 years pass already? Seems like just yesterday I was at your home photographing your tiny little toes.

We photographed this session at Grandma Jo and Grandpa Rick’s house because you were living there while your new house was being built. I absolutely LOVE the photo of you playing peek a boo from behind the tree. Your blissful giggle brings a smile to my face! The way you hopped and skipped on the sidewalk reminds me of playing outside with friends on warm summer days. Oh the carefree days of youth.

I look forward to watching you grow up into a beautiful woman.

Four Generations

Meet Debra, Bruce, Grandma, Sarah and Lilly. Deb’s reason for the photo session was to get a 4 generations portrait.

Our Session was in Grandma’s back yard because of how much time they had all spent there. Sarah especially has fond memories from her childhood.

Lilly was soooo 2. Ü Her attention span was short and once I brought out the typewriter there was no bringing her back. She played with that typewriter for probably about 40 minutes. It was too cute! It was great getting a glimpse into the family dynamics and into what a special part of all of their lives Lilly is.

Caitlin is making her second appearance on my blog, but this time she incorporated her boyfriend Jordan.

Caitlin is a senior at Lakes and is so totally tough chick and beautiful to boot! She is down to earth and responsible, but so much fun to be around.

She and Jordan have been dating for 3 years and make a great team according to her mom. If you are looking for them you can bet that they will either be at a soccer game or a football game, they have got a lot of school spirit! (I even got to see Caitlin all dressed up for homecoming Spirit day)

Oh I miss the fun of spirit days and homecoming and all that went with school. I was kind of a school spirit geek! I vividly remember Jr High Spirit days... keep in mind this was the 90's... Imagine: White keds (OF COURSE it had to start with the keds) red Scrunched Socks, white scrunched socks, red leggings, white tshirt, red & white scrunchies in the hair. Oh man, I was too cool. HAHA! I even had a reverse outfit that started with red Keds. YEAH BABY!

I digress... Caitlin, thank you so much for being so much fun to photograph. It's been a lot of fun getting to know you! Looking forward to photographing you in the future! Dare I say your wedding to Jordan! ;)

Senior Rep Session Numero Dos! Nicholas

This is the second time you have met Nick on my blog. Nick is a senior rep for me this year at Curtis Senior High and each of my senior reps receive two sessions.

This time Nick and I met in Lakewood to incorporate some fabulous fall leaves. After that we headed to Steilacoom and finished our session there. Nick is a great supporter of Viking Football. He impressed me with his awesome skills of painting the Viks logo on his car window. On the other window was the Seahawks logo. Being a Curtis grad and lover of all sports Seattle, I was actually pretty geeked about it.

Thanks for two wonderfully photogenic sessions and for being an awesome rep! Keep up the referrals and you could earn yourself some serious moolah this spring!

Cute New Product

I just received this cute little display last week and I am so excited about it! Ü I am definitely not a product photographer, so please don't judge too hard on the photography here! Haha!

I am not even sure what I am going to call these yet... I am thinking maybe "Express yourself Collection". If you've got an idea, share it with me!

These are 4 inches wide by 10 inches tall and are completely customizeable! They are backed with a hard backing so they can stand on their own. Place them on a shelf, or you could adhere them directly to the wall (with say double sticky tape)... can't wait to see how people display them!

The creative possibilities are endless. The sample shown here is a senior who will be graduating this year. Other options that come to mind are "Family", "Love", "Enjoy", "Together", "Bliss" (Oooh that just came to me... and how cute would it be to do wedding photos with the word Bliss!) or your name, kids name or your family's last name!

I am so excited to be offering this new product! Can't wait to see how creative you all get with yours! Ü

I thank a wonderful photographer friend of mine for the idea to do a Costume photo day. These turned out sooooo cute!!!!! I had a ton of fun with these kiddos. I also owe a big thanks to my friend Sabrina. Sabrina is the owner of Scrap That which is a new scrapbook store in Tacoma. She very graciously let me use her crop space for the photos AND gave away a free scrapbook layout to all the cuties that visited in costume on Saturday.

Kaylin & Noah

Oh my goodness... how does time fly by so quickly? I remember sitting in the hospital and holding this baby girl in my arms and now she's 4! And this little boy is talking and walking and swimming and climbing and it was just yesterday I was photographing his precious tiny baby face.

These two kiddos are so adorable! I'm kind of biased... but really... could they be any cuter?

I love the photo of them walking together on the railroad tracks. It just feels peaceful and it was such a nice moment. No yelling, or fighting or bouncing up and down... just a moment where brother and sister were in total harmony enjoying the scenery. Then we picked dandilions and they blew the fairies and it was so precious!

I also love the photo of my sister with Noah. She didn't plan on being in the photos... however Mister Noah had a different plan. He is TOTALLY a mama's boy. And at this instance he needed to be held. Nika put the biggest smiles on that little boys face and I just think this photo shows the love!

And then the wild running and being a kid all came flooding back and I think I might have even been the instigator on this! Ü I just love running around and acting like a big dorky kid! I REFUSE to grow up!

Rodney & Marva's Wedding

Last month I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing Rodney and Marva's wedding. They tied the knot at a church in Tacoma and after the beautiful wedding we headed to the reception at the space needle.

These two almost didn't have a wedding photographer... thud... gasp... OK, getting up off the floor, regaining composure... ;)

I am so glad that Marva's bridesmaids convinced her that it wasn't an option to skip this detail! Of course, most important is that these are memories that you just can't recreate and photographs are really one of the few ways to preserve them. And secondly... I had SOOOO much fun at this wedding.

Everything was planned perfectly and beautifully by their awesome wedding coordinator Dawnet.

The first dance was one for the record books. They started out so sweet and tender dancing to "At Last" and then the music scratched to a halt. They gave the DJ a dirty look like it was all an accident and they were appalled. Then a compilation of the most awesome songs came on back to back to back and they danced their patooties off. I laughed and laughed and the guests just ate it up! Included in this mix: I'm to sexy, Thriller, Macarena... and so many more that I can't even remember...and they finished it all up by going back to At last and with a dip to boot!

Thank you Rodney and Marva for letting me be a part in preserving your memories. I hope you cherish your photographs. You two are so much fun. You treated me like one of the family and I so appreciate it.

Congratulations on your union and the new adventures ahead of you!

Rodney & Marva Engagement session

I just realized as I was about to post photos from the wedding that I hadn't yet posted engagement photos of Rodney & Marva. Soooo... without further ado... here they are!

Marva didn't decide until late in the process that she was going to have a photographer for the wedding, so we got a late jump on the engagement session. Between all the planning and an unplanned trip to NY for Rodney, it took us a while to coordinate a date to meet.

On Friday July 3rd we met in the morning at Tumwater Falls Park . A mere 15 days before the wedding.

I am so glad we got together for this session. I learned that it takes bribery to get Rodney to smile... so I used that knowledge at the wedding! ;) I also was able to meet Marva's daughter and maid of honor Tiffany. She helped me prod the smiles out of these two. (Thanks Tiffany!) With so much going on in their lives, I was happy to provide an hour of the two of them focusing on each other and their love for one another.

Awesome Wedding!

I assisted my super awesome photog friend Michele with this wedding and it was so much fun. If I hadn't ridden in the car with Michele, I probably would have considered hanging out and partying with this couple. Their reception was fantastic. This crowd was there to PARTY!

I am disappointed because Blogger so doesn't do the colors in these photos justice.

And my goodness... how beautiful is this bride! Her eyes are amazing! Gorgeous Dress - Check, beautiful hair - check... and awesome attitude - check! The Groom was handsome and wonderful and they were so obviously madly in love!

It is so wonderful being surrounded by Love! Weddings are so wonderful and I am so grateful to help people remember their special day.

I met Tonya & Kevin in University Place near the golf course and we had such a good time getting to know each other. These two are so photogenic and so much fun.

Their wedding was scheduled for this month but life got a little crazy and they decided to postpone the ceremony. I look forward to the day that they do get married. They had some really fun ideas for the big day.

I just adore these photos. I think they came out so great... and that they really show how in love these two are.

Fun day at the park

I can't believe it has been so long since I photographed these two cuties. *BLUSH* This session took place on a chilly late May morning. The kids were awesome and we had so much fun! (Or at least I did anyway!)

It was really neat to watch them play together. To watch Nicholas & Amelia play together. "Mia" obviously adores her big brother. It was so cute to see her running behind him and copying what he would do.

This may have been my easiest kiddo session ever. They played together so well and just let me play right along with them! The reward for their hard work was to go to the playground afterward. I think I may have enjoyed the swings more than they did. By the time we got there the sun was warm on our face and the sound of children's giggles filled the air. Ah beautiful spring.

It was a fantastic day and these kiddos are awesome.

Momma & Baby on the way

Cristy and I went to high school together and recently reconnected through Facebook! I was so excited when I saw that she was pregnant because she has the cutest little pregnant body! I dropped a few hints about photographs and finally decided I HAD to photograph her beautiful belly...so I offered her a complimentary photography session. And I am so glad I did for many reasons.

Cristy is obviously adorable... her baby bump is so cute... it's been so awesome getting to know her. (We never really did know each other in school, just knew of each other) AND the best thing of all, I got to help her surprise her sweetie. She kept the photography session a suprise from him! How fun is that. She told me that she hates having her photograph taken and that he would never suspect she would do this in a million years. I am so glad she did. I just love her style and it will be neat for her family to have these memories down the line.

Congratulations Cristy & Carlos. I can't wait to meet your handsome baby boy! (Hopefully sooner than later, right! Ü)

Meet Billy & Nina! I have known them for about 3 years through my corvette club. Every year we have a big Corvette show to benefit a Clover Park Technical College Student. I donated a certificate to the auction and Billy & Nina won! It took them almost a year to have their session, but it was a beautiful day for it!

We sure had a great time getting some fun photos with the bike. What do you say guys... photos with the vette next time?

Nicholas - 2010 Curtis Senior High Rep

Nicholas will be a senior rep for me at CHS this year! Go Viks! I am a Curtis Grad so it is really neat to be able to photograph seniors from the same school I attended. Although it does reinforce how much I have aged!

I actually know Nick's mom through a scrapbooking group I have belonged to for probably around 10 years. When I posted to my facebook account that I was looking for senior reps, she said... I have a senior this year! So we met in time to photograph before the end of school and Nick was able to hand out cards to his classmates that included summer specials.

He was such a trooper! The weather was overcast and a little cool, but we were still able to get some pretty cool photos! So glad you guys like them! Can't wait for our second session to see how we can mix it up and get some other cool settings!

Antonio... what a handsome and sweet man! I know you will do great things in the world.

I had the opportunity to photograph Antonio because I contacted his school and asked if they could recommend someone who would be deserving of a complimentary photo session. As soon as I met him I knew why they selected him for the opportunity!

Antonio is so respectful and caring. Most Guys just do photos cause their mom is making them or they do it with little enthusiasm. Antonio was good to go! He had ideas, he whipped out his cell phone to schedule the session. Once we were to our session date he was there and he was ready! He came prepared, he brought his best smile and we had a great time. He even convinced (possibly tricked Ü) his brother into coming and helping with the reflector and wardrobe! After the preview session he and his mom were whispering... and honestly making me a little nervous. They left and about 10 minutes later Anthony showed up with a bouquet of roses for me! (HEY HUBBY... take note!!! Ü)

Antonio, I wish you the best of luck with your future! With a great attitude like yours, I know you can do anything!

Caitlin - 2010 Lakes High School Senior Rep

Introducing Caitlin - Super Soccer Woman and member of the graduating class of 2010!

Caitlin is a senior rep for me. What does that mean in a nutshell? It means that by referring classmates she can earn free sessions and prints. Are you interested in being a rep at your school? Contact me through my website for more information.

Caitlin is so much fun! We took these photographs at UW Tacoma... which come to find out was really appropriate because Caitlin is hoping to attend the University of Washington! I could photograph Caitlin for hours! Which I almost did! Ü I was totally loving it!

Soccer is big for Caitlin. She plays for the school and also an outside league. She travels to far off places for tournaments. I also learned that she is so hard core she collided with another player head to head, has the scar to prove it and still plays full tilt!

There's nothing more beautiful than a confident and strong willed woman! You go girl! Show the world what you are made of!

Jackson's Newborn Session

Isn't he just adorable?!? He was a tricky one! One of those newborns that likes to be wide awake and fidgety instead of peacefully dreamy. Of course as soon as we were done, he was out like a light! Ü

Absolutely friggen adorable tho! I spend about a half hour after the session sitting on the couch snuggling with mister man! Talk about a relaxation technique. They should have baby snuggling spas. Ooooh... I might have just came up with a fantastic new idea! Baby snuggling spas... I like it...

Back on topic. Apparently I've had too much red bull or am feeling a bit random today. Today? Ha, everyday. I just type it like I think it! Ü

Jackson decided he was done being in momma's tummy about 4 weeks early. By the time I was able to photograph him, he was already close to a month old. But still itty bitty because of his early arrival. Couldn't you just kiss those cheeks all day! Scrumptious! Ü

They grow so fast! I saw him the other day to deliver the portraits and he looks so much bigger already.

Rebecca & Joe - Just for love's Sake

Rebecca & Joe were married a year ago (plus a couple months). Rebecca told me that she never had wedding photographs done and wanted to have a session to show their love.

Joe on the other hand was not so much on board with this plan. I was pretty sure I could see the red mark on his wrist where Rebecca had twisted his arm ;)

Well, we started outside at their home, which was a little tricky because of the way the sun was hitting their yard. We did a few there, got Joe warmed up and comfortable as we were going to and dare I say almost having a good time! Ü

From there we drove down the street to the school at the end of their block which provided several areas to photograph these love birds.

"The Story" - When I arrived Rebecca told me that they hadn't had the best of days so far. They'd been bickering and just plain having a rough day. By the end of the session they couldn't keep thier hands off each other and Rebecca actually cried. OH NO! I was so worried that she wasn't having a good time or that maybe Joe had said something and he wasn't having a good time. Turned out that she was crying because of how much in love with her husband she was! I actually almost started crying! How awesome that I was able to provide them with a moment... and to be able to share it with them!

I've said it before, and I will say it again... I love my job! I just love that I was able to help them commemorate their love thru photography and not only that, to provide a memorable and fun experience and moment. I truly enjoy making a session fun. I try to make it unique and special and wonderful. It's not just a job for me... it is about making a connection and helping you remember that moment. So many times when people get ready for photos it is a stressful time... trying to get the kids ready, having to look just so, perfect hair, makeup flawless... great if you can, but it is so much more about the love and the emotion and being together sharing of each other. Let the stress go and have fun! Or cry and be in that moment! I am there for you, whatever direction that takes us. Let loose, have fun, be you... I'll be me and hopefully together we can capture your true emotion and love.

Love is in the air

It's that time, weddings are in full swing!

A few weeks ago I assisted my fellow photographer friend Resa with a wedding in Tacoma. It was an adventure to say the least.

That morning I photographed a couple with their Harley... (THAT WAS FUN!!!) I'll be blogging those soon too. Well, on the last photo of the Harley session, my camera battery decided it was done. D! O! N! E! ... done. It was so weird. it just died on me. so I took it out and put it back in and tried some more. A few more images and done. We called it quits and I headed to the wedding. At the wedding, I took a few more photographs, and then the battery gave up on me.

New battery and I am in business. Handsome men, click... beautiful women, click... feeling the love... ceremony starts... click click click... then the flash stops working. WHAT??? seriously. mid ceremony. Really... of all the times, in the middle of a wedding ceremony??? UGH. Thankfully there was a lot of light in the church and I was able to continue sans flash.

After the ceremony... still no luck, can't make it work... I am responsible for photographing the reception... oh crud... well, thankfully I was borrowing a second flash from another photographer. Only problem... I left it at home, and here's the kicker, because I wouldn't need it. That was one of those lessons I've learned over and over again, yet for some reason it just hasn't stuck. I had said to myself... should I take the flash? Nah, I won't need it. OK... note to self... any time I say that in the future I AM DOING WHATEVER IT IS I JUST SAID!!!

There were definitely some characters at this wedding. I had such a great time in the few hours I got to share with this family.

Weddings are so awesome... frustrations and all!

Ashley and Brian's engagement session was awesome! I just love how much fun they are! Totally my style... easy going and silly.

Brian is in the Army and was deployed at the end of May. He will return next May and then will be getting married to Ashley in July!

We snuck in this engagement session just before Brian left and we had so much fun! The weather threatened us and eventually ended our session, but it was time to be done anyhow.

They make such a cute couple! I really am so excited to photograph thier wedding!!! Seriously... we have to wait a whole year?!?! Ü
